The moment we log into the PowerApps window, a lot of things start buzzing in our minds like what to do; where to click; and how to use and explore the multiple options which are available under the Windows and options. This article will assist you with simple steps and navigation in the Design Studio of Powerapps.
Once you login to make.powerapps.com, you will be able to explore the list of apps which are available for undertaking changes and modifications and you need to select the app with which you wish to proceed with the activity. Click on the App and proceed with clicking on the EDIT button in there to open the app under the editable mode.

- The Tree View on the extreme LEFT shows the screens which are available in PowerApps
- On Click of the screen, you will be able to see the list of all the controls which are available on that particular screen
- FILL – This is an event to which we can attach/couple a functionality in PowerApps and we have multiple of such events in PowerApps few of them include Fill : Visible : OnClick etc. The events keep on changing and more events are available in the list based upon the control which is selected
- Fx – It’s the bar in which you will be able to write and see the associated formula with that event over the screen and the control
- On the Top Bar you can see the HOME INSERT and other options which assists you to access different areas in the designer and access different options like inserting a control which can be a button or a grid or a data source
In PowerApps, a single app can be connected to multiple data sources, let's say you wish to show the data from Dynamics CRM as main source which will be having a functionality to add : update and edit the data from Lead Entity and at the same time you wish to send an email from PowerApps which will be altogether a different functionality, so for the same you need to create a new data source in PowerApps and need to associate the same in your app and then you will be able to access the functionalities offered by that particular data source.
Adding a New Screen in PowerApps
We can add new screens to PowerApps at any instant of time. When you initially create an App in PowerApps post-selection of data source, a preconfigured app is loaded with all the essential operations which include CREATE - READ - UPDATE and DELETE and now, you wish to have one more screen to be added for some specific operation in PowerApps.
Step 1
You need to select the option from top and it's available in there on your left.
Step 2
Select the type of layout for your screen. Let's say you wish to have a list of records in PowerApps and so you need to select the screen with a list and attach the same to the data source which will be enabling the functionality to show a drop-down list of the records.
Step 3
You can add ICON on top and below as per your need and requirement and configure/attach a formula to the same which will be enabling the formula bar to type in some formula which may include formula to NAVIGATE to a new screen.
Editing a List in Power Apps
The list which you will be placing on the screen can be configured and customized as per the need and requirement. Initially it will show only some specific set of attributes which includes LAST NAME EMAIL and one more attribute. But if you wish to change the attributes which are shown on the list you may edit its properties. The screenshot of property window is as follows,
