The ChatGPT Pro plan includes unlimited access to OpenAI's latest reasoning model, o1, as well as additional models like o1-mini, GPT-4o, and Advanced Voice. A standout feature of this plan is the o1 pro mode, which utilizes increased computing resources to deliver more accurate and comprehensive answers to challenging queries. OpenAI plans to introduce even more powerful productivity features in the future.

This new subscription tier is particularly beneficial for researchers, engineers, and professionals who rely on high-level AI intelligence for their daily tasks, allowing them to enhance their productivity and stay at the forefront of AI advancements.

Enhanced Problem-Solving Capabilities

ChatGPT Pro offers access to a version of the o1 model that is designed to think longer and provide more reliable responses. In evaluations conducted by external experts, o1 pro mode has demonstrated improved accuracy and depth, especially in fields such as data science, programming, and legal analysis.

The performance of the o1 pro mode surpasses that of both o1 and its preview version, particularly on complex machine learning benchmarks across mathematics, science, and coding tasks. OpenAI employs a stricter evaluation standard for this model, requiring it to answer correctly in four out of four attempts ("4/4 reliability") to be deemed successful.

Pro users can easily switch to o1 pro mode via the model picker and can expect slightly longer response times, accompanied by a progress bar during calculations.

Grant Program for Researchers

In a bid to support critical research initiatives, OpenAI is awarding ten grants of ChatGPT Pro subscriptions to medical researchers at leading U.S. institutions. This initiative aims to foster advancements in fields that benefit humanity. Among the recipients are:

  • Catherine Brownstein, MPH, PhD: Assistant Professor at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, specializing in rare disease gene discovery.
  • Justin Reese, PhD: Computer Research Scientist at Berkeley Lab, utilizing complex biomedical data for disease research.
  • Rhoda Au, PhD: Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, focusing on aging and dementia.
  • Derya Unutmaz, MD: Professor at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine, researching aging and cancer immunotherapy.

With the introduction of ChatGPT Pro and its accompanying grant program, OpenAI is reinforcing its commitment to advancing AI technology while supporting researchers who are making meaningful contributions to society.
