Nvidia Launches Cutting-Edge RTX 5090 GPU

At CES 2025, Nvidia revealed its new RTX Blackwell family of GPUs, with the RTX 5090 as the star of the lineup. This powerful graphics card looks similar to the previous model but has some major upgrades. It now features 92 billion transistors, 4,000 AT TOPS (AI operations), 380 ray-tracing TFLOPS (teraflops), and 1.8 TB/s bandwidth, making it one of the most advanced GPUs on the market.

During the keynote, Nvidia showcased the RTX 5090 with impressive live demos, showing off highly detailed graphics, complex textures, and full ray tracing, which makes lighting and reflections in games more realistic. Nvidia claims that the RTX 5090 can be up to twice as fast as the RTX 4090, making it a significant upgrade for gamers and creators alike.

The RTX 5090 is priced at $2,000, while other models in the Blackwell family, such as the RTX 8050 ($999), RTX 5070 Ti ($749), and RTX 5070 ($549), offer more affordable options. Laptops featuring the RTX 5070 will cost even less than the standalone 5090 card.

Nvidia also highlighted that the new 50 series GPUs bring breakthroughs in AI-driven rendering, including features like neural shaders, digital human technologies, and improved geometry and lighting.

For those looking for laptops with the RTX 5090, prices will start at just under $3,000, and these high-end laptops will be available starting in March 2025. Laptops with the RTX 5080, 5070 Ti, and 5070 will follow soon after. Major brands like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI, and Razer will offer notebooks with these new GPUs.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that, after years of supply chain challenges, the company is prepared for this launch. He described the Blackwell GPUs as the “engine of AI” for gamers, developers, and creators, combining AI-driven neural rendering and ray tracing to deliver cutting-edge graphics performance.

With the release of the RTX 5090, Nvidia is once again raising the bar for high-performance computing and gaming, positioning the new GPU family as a significant step forward in computer graphics technology.
