Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries is planning to establish the world’s largest AI data center in Jamnagar, India. With a capacity of three gigawatts, this ambitious project aims to meet the surging global demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure. If completed, it will surpass the current largest data center, Microsoft’s 600-megawatt facility in Virginia, according to Bloomberg. The project is estimated to cost between $20 billion and $30 billion.
A Green-Powered Vision
Reliance plans to power the massive data center primarily through renewable energy. An adjacent green energy complex will generate solar, wind, and hydrogen power, ensuring that the facility aligns with India’s sustainability goals. This reflects Mukesh Ambani's broader commitment to renewable energy and clean technology.
Backed by Global Partnerships
Reliance is reportedly collaborating with Nvidia to acquire cutting-edge chips for the data center. The two companies announced their partnership in October to build AI infrastructure in India. This venture builds on the $25 billion investment Reliance raised in 2020 from global giants like Meta, Google, and KKR, which was used to expand its telecom and retail operations.
