Microsoft has started a new team to speed up the development of AI technology and tools within the company.
Jay Parikh, who used to be a VP and engineering leader at Meta, will lead this new team. He will report directly to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and manage groups like the AI platform and developer teams.
Parikh, who worked on technical projects at Meta, became the CEO of a cloud security company called Lacework before joining Microsoft in October.
The new team, called CoreAI — Platform and Tools, brings together Microsoft’s existing developer and AI platform teams, as well as some employees from the Office of the CTO division. This change helps Microsoft focus on making AI a priority.
In a memo shared on Microsoft’s blog, Nadella said the company’s goal for the next year will be to create AI-powered applications that transform different kinds of software.
