As a Software Engineer in Quality at PhonePe, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of large-scale features, products, and services. You will take ownership of the entire quality process and impact across releases, ensuring that each product meets PhonePe's high standards. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, solve complex challenges, and continuously improve the testing process to enhance user experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Ownership. Take full ownership of the quality of large features, products, and services, ensuring that they meet PhonePe’s standards for end-user experience and performance.
2. Test Execution. Independently define and execute testing strategies, prioritize tasks, and handle dependencies across conflicting tasks and timelines.
3. Problem-Solving. Identify bottlenecks in runtime, develop creative solutions, and manage unanticipated changes.
4. Collaboration & Leadership. Build strong working relationships with peers and team members, evangelize changes, and effectively lead through changes in testing processes.
5. Automation. Develop and maintain automation for UI, mobile applications, API, web, and performance testing (e.g., using Espresso, XCUITest, Appium, Selenium, Rest-Assured, Locust).
6. Performance Testing. Conduct non-functional testing, including performance testing and optimize for quality.
7. Continuous Improvement. Actively contribute to improving test coverage and product effectiveness. Work with DevOps technologies like Docker, Jenkins, and Mesos to enhance testing processes.
8. Reporting. Track multiple test executions, report results, and ensure predictability for stakeholders during release cycles.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• BTech, MTech, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical disciplines (or equivalent experience).

Experience

• 5+ years of software development and testing experience.
• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to oversee complex testing processes.
• Extensive experience in test automation across UI, mobile applications (iOS/Android), API, and web testing.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in object-oriented programming or scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, Swift).
• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and tools such as Espresso, XCUITest, Appium, Selenium, Rest-Assured, Locust.
• Experience with continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Exposure to performance testing and tools for load testing and stress testing.
• Familiarity with DevOps technologies (Docker, Jenkins, Mesos, Marathon).

Soft Skills

• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and debugging skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to track multiple test executions simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills and ability to report and escalate issues to stakeholders.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
