As a Senior Software Engineering Manager within the Azure Edge + Platform Engineering System team, you will be at the heart of developing and managing one of the most extensive engineering systems in the industry. Your role will be crucial in shaping the future of how code is built, tested, and released across Microsoft’s platforms, including Azure, Windows, and Edge. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on large-scale systems that underpin some of the most widely used products globally.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership. Guide, mentor, and grow a diverse team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
2. Feature Execution. Oversee the full lifecycle of feature development, from planning to deployment, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet customer needs.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration. Work closely with internal and external teams, including Product Management (PM), to create integrated solutions that deliver exceptional customer experiences.
4. Engineering Best Practices. Advocate for and implement engineering best practices, drive a culture of continuous improvement, and promote a Live Site mentality to ensure service excellence.
5. Talent Management. Recruit and develop top talent, support team members’ career aspirations, and ensure a supportive and inclusive workplace.
6. Operational Support. Participate in periodic on-call duties and live site support to ensure the reliability and performance of critical systems.
7. Data-Driven Insights. Leverage data to guide business decisions, optimize processes, and drive impactful changes within the team and broader organization.

Qualifications

1. Experience. 8-10 years of experience in object-oriented programming and design patterns (C#, C++, .NET, Java), with at least 2 years in a people management role and experience managing a product team.
2. Education. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; advanced degrees (BS or MS) in Computer Science or Engineering are preferred.
3. Skills. Proven track record of shipping products through multiple cycles, strong leadership abilities, effective cross-team collaboration, and experience with large-scale architectures and services.
