We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer - Machine Learning Specialist to join Andela through Uplers. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work remotely while collaborating with a dynamic team to implement and enhance machine learning solutions. You will be responsible for deploying and maintaining ML pipelines, ensuring data quality, and contributing to both batch and real-time algorithms.

Experience. 6+ years

Key Responsibilities

1. Pipeline Implementation. Develop and productionize end-to-end feature engineering pipelines for machine learning features.
2. Data Quality. Implement and maintain data quality checks to ensure high-quality features in production.
3. Algorithm Solutions. Create and manage end-to-end solutions for both batch and real-time algorithms, including monitoring, logging, and automated testing.
4. Process Improvement. Identify opportunities to enhance business processes and consumer experiences, prototyping solutions with a phased approach.
5. Collaboration. Work closely with data scientists and analysts to deploy new product features on platforms such as the Weather Channel website and mobile apps.
6. Automation. Establish scalable, automated processes for data analysis, model development, and implementation.
7. Software Engineering. Write efficient software and contribute to promoting best software engineering practices within the team.

Qualifications

1. Education. Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Statistics, Math, Engineering, Information Systems, etc.).
2. Experience. Proven experience in deploying and maintaining ML pipelines in production environments.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with Docker, AWS (including S3, EKS, EMR, Athena, Glue, Lambda, Kinesis, MSK, Sagemaker, SQS, SNS), and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and ML/Data offerings.
• Communication. Strong skills in explaining technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaboration. Willingness to work collaboratively and contribute to high-quality outcomes as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Advanced Degree. Master’s degree in a STEM field.
2. Technical Expertise. Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, Apache Spark, and Apache Airflow.
3. Certification. Certification in cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and/or Azure.
4. Development Practices. Understanding of test-driven development and willingness to improve test coverage.
