We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Jira Issue Domain team in India. In this position, you will have the autonomy to build and nurture engineering teams responsible for critical deliverables within the Jira ecosystem. Your leadership will focus on empowering your team members to reach their professional goals while ensuring their growth and development. You will create an environment that encourages individuals to step outside their comfort zones and strive for excellence.

Your analytical skills will be essential in ensuring we address the right problems effectively. Collaborating closely with other teams within the Jira Issue Domain group, you will influence the direction of the platform, set strategic goals, and plan actionable steps to achieve them. You will also identify and resolve impediments, ultimately delivering exceptional value to our internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Problem Solving. Tackle complex technical challenges, guiding projects from design to launch.
2. Project Management. Develop strategic plans for large-scale projects and execute them effectively.
3. Architecture Leadership. Address complex architectural challenges, apply architectural standards, and implement them in new projects.
4. Code Review Excellence. Lead meaningful code reviews, ensuring high standards of quality and clarity.
5. Collaborative Partnership. Work across engineering teams to contribute to company-wide programs and multiple projects.
6. Knowledge Transfer. Leverage your expertise to mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of learning and growth.
7. Continuous Improvement. Maintain a focus on engineering excellence, constantly seeking ways to improve processes and team dynamics.

Qualifications

1. Experience. 9+ years of experience with JavaScript (ES6), HTML5, CSS, and familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, AngularJS, Vue).
2. Education. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
3. Technical Skills. In-depth understanding of the modern frontend ecosystem, including bundling, linting, testing, and releasing. Proficiency in modern testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress, Mocha, Chai).
4. Software Development. Proven experience in building frontend applications at scale and engineering software systems of medium to large scope and complexity.
5. Agile Methodologies. Strong background in Agile software development practices.
6. Mentorship. Experience mentoring junior engineers and fostering their growth.
