Gartner is looking for a Lead Test Engineer with expertise in Selenium WebDriver to join our world-class team of engineers. In this role, you’ll be responsible for automating web application testing, enhancing our test automation frameworks, and driving quality assurance initiatives across key projects. You’ll play a lead role in designing and developing test automation strategies while mentoring junior team members and providing hands-on technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Automation. Design, develop, and maintain automation test scripts using Selenium WebDriver for web applications, and Appium for mobile testing. Lead testing efforts for both REST APIs and cloud-based SaaS products.
- Framework Development. Build and optimize test automation frameworks and maintain scripts in line with continuous integration and deployment practices.
- Quality Assurance Leadership. Take ownership of the test process, including defect detection, problem-solving, and troubleshooting in sophisticated applications. Provide recommendations for improving test coverage and product quality.
- Test Planning & Execution. Lead the creation of detailed test plans, schedules, and execution strategies for both new and ongoing projects. Ensure alignment with development goals and timelines.
- Mentorship. Mentor junior team members and provide technical coaching to build team capabilities in test automation and best practices.
- Collaboration. Work closely with cross-functional teams (development, product management, etc.) to understand project requirements and ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Continuous Improvement. Recommend and implement best practices for test automation and continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of testing processes.
What You’ll Need
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in test automation, including expertise in Selenium WebDriver and REST API testing.
- Proven experience with cloud-based SaaS products and testing in Agile environments.
- Strong expertise in Core Java and Object-Oriented (OO) concepts.
- Experience with Appium for mobile application testing and working with Agile-SCRUM methodologies.
- Solid knowledge of the software development lifecycle, with a preference for experience using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to work effectively in a geographically distributed team.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with additional test automation tools or frameworks.
- Experience in performance testing or security testing is a plus.
