The IP Lead will be responsible for conducting comprehensive patent analyses, drafting high-quality patent applications, and managing prosecution processes across major geographies including India, the US, and Europe. This role demands a deep understanding of patent law, excellent technical knowledge, and a strategic approach to intellectual property management in the software/IT domain.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed patent analyses including prior art searches and patentability assessments.
• Draft high-quality patent applications considering all possible scenarios to protect the company's inventions in the latest technical domains.
• Manage the prosecution of patent applications in India, the US, Europe, and other jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with local laws and practices.
• Experience in mining innovations, implementing invention capture processes, and conducting inventor interviews.
• Run training sessions to build innovation consciousness among technologists and capture innovation.
• Advise on patent strategies and provide IP-related guidance to R&D and other internal teams in the software/IT sector.
• Develop a network within the inventor community and drive IP protection strategy in consultation with tech teams.
• Strong understanding of traditional and emerging software technologies and experience in running brainstorm sessions with software developers and architects.
• Maintain current knowledge of changes in patent laws and practices in key geographies.

Qualifications

• B.E/B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or Electrical (strict requirement).
• At least 5-10 years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution, preferably in the software/IT domain.
• Strong technical acumen with the ability to grasp complex software/IT concepts.
• Familiarity with patent laws and procedures in India, the US, and Europe.
• Sound judgment, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to handle multiple projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• This role is for the Global IP team of Infosys based in its Bangalore headquarters.
