Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of user interfaces, collaborating closely with User Experience Designers and Product Managers.
  • Implement responsive and accessible web designs that enhance user engagement.
  • Develop and maintain robust backend services in Java, ensuring optimal performance and data management.
  • Design and implement APIs that connect the front-end and back-end systems seamlessly.
  • Provide guidance on software engineering best practices, fostering a culture of excellence within the team.
  • Mentor junior developers and participate in code reviews to maintain high-quality code standards.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to keep LinkedIn at the forefront of web development.
  • Identify and advocate for opportunities to improve processes and enhance team productivity.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate user needs into technical specifications.
  • Engage in Agile practices, contributing to sprint planning and retrospectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of web development experience with:
  • Object-oriented JavaScript
  • jQuery
  • Semantic HTML
  • CSS
  • Proficient in backend development using Java.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (Angular, React, Ember) and debugging tools.
  • Knowledge of front-end architecture best practices (performance, security, accessibility).
  • Experience with testing methodologies (Unit, Integration, Visual Testing).
  • Exposure to JSP and Dust programming is a plus.
  • Interest in developing single-page applications using frameworks like Backbone or Play.
