As a Web Administrator at Infogain, you will manage and maintain high-performing web applications and hosting environments. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of critical infrastructure, troubleshooting performance issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues quickly. This role requires proactive monitoring, technical expertise in web and database servers, and a commitment to maintaining security and availability.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Web Hosting Management. Administer web application servers, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability of applications and websites.
- Server Monitoring & Troubleshooting. Monitor server logs, performance metrics, and error reports to detect and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Server Configuration. Configure and manage Apache, Nginx, IIS web servers, and ensure smooth operations of FTP services, SSL, and domains.
- Customer Support. Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues related to website functionality, email, and hosting services.
- Backup & Maintenance. Perform regular backups, updates, and maintenance tasks to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with best practices.
- Collaboration. Work closely with development teams to optimize website performance, resolve technical issues, and ensure infrastructure compatibility.
- Documentation. Develop and maintain technical documentation for web hosting infrastructure, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- On-Call Support. Participate in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours support and handle incidents swiftly.
- Process Improvement. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and contribute to the continuous improvement of the hosting infrastructure's architecture and design.
- Testing Collaboration. Ensure thorough testing of hosting infrastructure and applications in collaboration with Development and QA teams.
Core Skills & Qualifications
- Education. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience. 11-12 years of experience in hosting administration, web application servers, and managing hosting environments.
- Web Server Expertise. In-depth experience with two or more web servers: Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, Nginx, IIS.
- Database Knowledge. Proficient in working with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MS SQL Server.
- Operating Systems. Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows Server, including experience with virtualization technologies like VMware or Hyper-V.
- Networking Fundamentals. Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and firewalls, and ability to troubleshoot networking issues.
- DevOps & CI/CD. Experience with DevOps tools like Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, Kubernetes/OCP, and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
- Problem-Solving. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to debug complex technical issues and optimize performance.
- Agile Environment. Experience working in an Agile environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- Education. Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Cloud & DevOps Expertise. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and DevOps tools like Ansible.
- Containerization. Experience with Red Hat OpenShift and containerization technologies.
- Scripting. Knowledge of scripting languages like Bash or PowerShell to automate tasks and processes.
- Agile Tools. Familiarity with project management tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Certifications. ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent experience in service management best practices.
