As a MS SQL Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in maintaining the performance, scalability, and reliability of our database servers. You will be responsible for optimizing and tuning databases, ensuring high performance, and collaborating with various teams to enhance database efficiency. This position demands a high level of technical expertise and problem-solving skills, particularly in SQL Server performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and database design.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Management. Oversee SQL Server instances, including installation, configuration, patching, database creation, and ensuring backups and restores.
- Performance Optimization. Ensure high availability, scalability, and optimal performance of database servers through continuous monitoring and performance analysis.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting. Utilize tools such as Performance Monitor, Extended Events, and DMVs to monitor SQL Server health and troubleshoot issues like deadlocks, slow performance, and high resource utilization.
- Query Optimization. Analyze execution plans and refactor queries to enhance performance and efficiency.
- Capacity Planning. Plan and implement database capacity upgrades, scaling, and migration to meet evolving business needs.
- User Management. Manage user access, permissions, and roles, while implementing auditing processes and compliance measures as required.
- Code Review. Review SQL Server database code from developers and provide guidance for query tuning and optimization.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in MS SQL Server Database Administration.
- In-depth knowledge of SQL Server architecture, internals, and performance tuning techniques.
- Strong T-SQL skills for query optimizations and performance enhancements.
- Familiarity with SQL Server versions including 2022, 2019, 2016, and 2014.
- Expertise in Windows Failover Cluster Server and SQL Server AlwaysOn.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong analytical abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective teamwork.
- Certification in MS SQL Server Administration.
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of additional DBMS products like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
- Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Azure.
- Familiarity with SSIS/SSRS/SSAS.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
- Understanding of agile project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
