Job Description

Intel Labs is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join our team, focusing on advancing the robustness of multimodal foundation models and AI systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in machine learning and AI, collaborate with a team of distinguished researchers, and impact future product roadmaps at Intel.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pioneering research in machine learning and AI to enhance the robustness of multimodal foundation models and systems.
  • Design and develop innovative AI algorithms, models, and systems aimed at improving natural language and multimodal understanding.
  • Implement optimized, uncertainty-aware AI algorithms on Intel platforms using frameworks such as PyTorch and Python.
  • Collaborate with the research team to produce and publish high-impact research, influencing future product development.
  • Work with Intel business units to transfer research technology towards practical product applications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, AI/ML, or a related technical field, or a Master’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in developing efficient AI models, fine-tuning multimodal foundation models, and optimizing systems.
  • Strong expertise in natural language processing, computer vision, and multimodal AI systems with a solid foundation in deep learning.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or other programming languages, with experience in PyTorch or other machine learning frameworks.
  • Familiarity with uncertainty estimation methods in deep neural networks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Track record of publications in top AI/ML conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, EMNLP, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in deep learning and software development, with contributions to open-source projects and participation in AI/coding challenges.
  • Knowledge of Transformer and Foundation models.
  • Research experience in data-efficient and adaptive AI algorithms, including domain adaptation and active learning.
  • Experience with low-precision optimizations and quantization frameworks.
