SQL Server Compact 4.0 Installation and Visual Studio 2010 Integration
Recently I've been working with SQL Server Compact 4.0 and wanted to share the steps involved to install on a 64 Bit machine.
- Download SQL Server Compact 3.5 and 4.0
- For Compact 3.5 install both 32 bit (necessary for the Compact Toolbox add-in) and 64 bit versions.
- For Compact 4.0 install 64 bit version only.
- Download and install Visual Studio 2010 SP1 Tools for SQL Server Compact 4.0
- Download and install the SQL Server Compact Toolbox add-in for Visual Studio 2010.
Once you have followed these steps you can now enjoy the added benefits of the SQL Server Compact Toolbox. Including scripting, import, export, migrate, rename, run script, manage replication and more.
