Copy existing structure and content
This is a feature for migrating SharePoint site objects from one SharePoint site to another with a simple drag and drop. It's possible to copy site collections, sites, lists, libraries, site columns, site content types, users, groups, permission levels, managed metadata, and workflows.
1. Launch the Sharegate migration tool. The first thing you will see is the Home Screen. To start a migration, click the "Copy structure and content" menu. It will Copy the overall site collection.
2. Select the Source Site. Enter URL under "Site address" and select Authentication type is "Browser". Make sure your site will be connected in any Browser. Click on "Connect".
You can Connect to your source and select a web application, site collection, or subsite.
3. You will see Source site is connected in the Sharegate migration tool.
4. Select the Target Site. Enter URL under "Site address" and select Authentication type is "Browser". Make sure your site will be connected in any Browser.

5. You will see Destination site is connected in the Sharegate migration tool.
6. You can both sites are connected in the below screen. The left side is the Source site and the Right side is the Destination site.
7. On the above screenshot (Point No. 6) click on the "Mappings" button to upload User Mapping. I will explain how to generate a User Mapping (.sgum) file and What is the use this in the next Blog - Sharegate Generate User Mappings
Click on the "Import user and group mapping" button as mentioned screenshot below. After that, you can see the Source and Destination Users and Groups will be mapped under the "Source" and "Destination" columns. Once the User Mapping file is uploaded successfully then click on the Save button and you will be redirected to the previous screen as mentioned in (Point No. 6).
8. In the screenshot (Point No. 6), click on the "Option" button. The "Option" button allows you to select how you want to copy over with the site:
- Action to perform
- Copy as a sub site: It will copy the Source site on Destination as a Sub site.
- Merge with: It will Merge the Source site on the Destination site. It will overlap on the Destination site.
- Operation mode
- Automatic
- Copy and replace them
- Don't copy existing items
- Copy and keep both
- Copy if newer (incremental)
- Manual: You will be prompted to choose an action to every time.

- Modern experience:
This feature will use for when you will work on migration from SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint Online. If you want to keep Modern experience as SharePoint 2013 then you can select this Check box.
9. In the screenshot (Point No. 6), we can migrate one by one by selecting the Left side menu or if you select "Sites" from the top and click on the Save button then directly it will be consider in one time migration.

10. Finally click on the Save button. It will start migration as you selected Options. You can see the status of migration under the Task menu mentioned in the main left menu.
