Remote Desktop Using Chrome

Sometimes we need to access a machine from another location on a public network/over the internet. We all know to gain access to a machine requires a remote desktop feature enabled on Windows.

Now Google has launched a feature to enable a remote desktop using a Chrome browser which makes it fairly easy to set up and leverage the advantage of remote desktop from anywhere. 

Note

You should be logged-in to your Chrome browser with your Google account. 

Steps to set up remote access on the host computer,

  1. Open Chrome browser and enter remotedesktop.google.com/access.

  2. Under “Set up Remote Access,” click Download,

  3. Click on "Add to Chrome",

  4. Click on "Add Extension",

  5. Click "Accept & Install",

  6. Provide the machine name,

  7. Choose your PIN and click on "Start",

  8. Setup is completed and the below screen will be shown,

Steps to take remote from other machines,

  1. Open Chrome and enter remotedesktop.google.com/access.
  2. Under “Remote devices,” click on the machine name for e.g. "LAPTOP-H",

  3. It will try to connect to the remote machine,

  4. Enter your secret password,

  5. Hurry! you will be accessing your remote machine,
