Permission Levels In SharePoint Online

Primary Permission In SharePoint Online

In this blog, we will discuss the primary permission level in SharePoint Online, which can be assigned to users accordingly. In SharePoint Online, there are four primary levels of permissions that can be assigned to users and groups:

  1. Read: Users with read permissions can view items, lists, libraries, and pages on the site.

  2. Write: Users with write permissions can add, edit, and delete items, lists, libraries, and pages on the site.

  3. Contribute: Users with contribute permissions can add, edit, and delete items in lists and libraries, but they cannot create or delete lists and libraries or add or delete pages on the site.

  4. Full Control: Users with full control permissions have complete control over the site and can perform all actions, including managing permissions, editing the site's layout, and adding or removing apps.

  5. Design - Can view, add, update, delete, approve, and customize.

The above permissions are the default settings in SharePoint Online, but these permissions can be customized to meet your organization's specific needs.

Note - Be careful while assigning permissions to users and groups in your SharePoint Online site; you can ensure that users have the appropriate level of access.
