OmniTouch: Every Surface is a Touch Surface
How would you feel if your entire house walls are touch
screens? Every wall was your computer, your TV and even your mail box. I
remember visiting Microsoft campus in 2003 and visited this future house where
every wall was a touch screen. Microsoft has been involved with touch technology
for over a decade now and Windows 8 is its first official operating system that
brings some of the touch technology to the end user.
OmniTouch turns any surface in the user's environment into a touch
interface. OmniTouch: Wearable Multitouch Interaction Everywhere—co-authored
by Chris Harrison, a Ph.D. student at Carnegie
Mellon University and a former Microsoft Research intern; Benko; and Andy Wilso, is a wearable system that enables
graphical, interactive, multi-touch input on arbitrary, everyday surfaces.
