Is Microsoft playing roulette with Windows 8?

Introduction

Do you remember Windows Vista? One of the worst operating system ever introduced by Microsoft that failed big time not only from the user interface perspective but also from resource consumption and performance.

Then Windows 7 came along and saved Microsoft. So far, Windows 7 has been the best operating system ever-ever developed by Microsoft.

Major Windows users have not even upgraded to Windows 7 yet and here comes Microsoft with Windows 8. Windows 8 is totally redesigned and resurfaced operating system and will change everything. Everything is changed the way how Windows users use their computers.

Windows 8 can be thought as the operating system of future that not only runs on the PCs but may run on tablets and smart devices. That means the fully supported touch features and metro style apps.

This all sounds good in theory but are Windows users ready for Windows 8? I installed Windows 8 consumer preview and found myself totally lost in this new world. I am a developer and being a developer, touch is not the main feature I look for but that's just me.

While I am all excited about Windows 8, Microsoft certainly has bet on roulette and time will tell if Microsoft hits 0/00 or the numbers.
