Imagine, you would have to add the email contents into the sharePoint list automatically when you send an email to the configured email account. And you have an another requirement to store the attachment in the email to SharePoint List attachments.
These two requirements are made easily possible by Incoming Email Settings in SharePoint 2010 and 2013. Incoming Email Settings can be possible in the following sharePoint
- Document Library,
- Picture, or form library
- Announcements list
- Calendar list
- Discussion board
- Blog
The following are the steps given to configure the email Settings.
- Navigate to your document library’s settings and click incoming email settings
- Set the option Allow This Document Library to Receive Email to Yes
- Set the Email address (Example: myDocumentlibrary) to give the email address.
- Set the option Save Original Email to Yes. This will ensure that the mail message is stored in this library.
- Accept remaining default settings and click OK
