This blog describes how to show and hide filter pane in the Power BI Desktop report designing tool. If the filter pane is not available by default in your existing report file and now you need to show the pane you can follow this blog as well as it helps you to hide or show the filter pane to the report users.
Steps to turn on filter Pane while designing New reports, follow below steps,
Step 1
Select File then go to Options and Setting then go to Options.
Step 2
Go to Preview Features, then select the New filter experience checkbox and click on OK.
Step 3
Then Restart Power BI.
Now, you can design a new report with a Filter pane.
However, for the existing reports file you need to enable it. To turn on Filter Pane for Existing Reports where filter pane has previously disabled, follow below steps,
Step 1
Open the existing report, select File then go to Options and Setting then go to Options.
Step 2
Go to Report Setting and go to Filtering Experience pane and Click on Enable search for the filter.
On the other hand, we can use this filter pane to design and filter data for the report designer’s purpose of report development task and can show or hide to the report user based on need by just clicking on the eye icon as depicted in the below picture.
