Today, we are going to describe about how to recover deleted objects from the Recycle Bin on SharePoint On Premise.
There is not much difference between recovering data from SharePoint On-Premise and SPO, where both are similar with some minor changes.
When we delete a document, list or items from an app in SharePoint, it isn’t gone forever. The document or list just moves to a holding place in your site — the Recycle Bin.
Below are the steps to recover data that's been accidentally deleted on SharePoint
- We will set an example; assume we have some items on SP list or document and we have deleted them. Now, we want to recover the same.
- To recover the deleted item, we need to go to Site content page or Site setting page.
Find Recycle Bin from Site content page: Go to site> click Gear box on right side and select site contents and here we will find out Recycle bin on top of the site page.
- If you are an administrator of the site, then to find Recycle Bin from Site setting page> go to Site setting from Gear box>select Recycle Bin under Site collection Administration.
- Now, the question comes up how to recover the data from Recycle Bin. We can click the Delete Selection link in the Recycle Bin to remove the file from your Recycle Bin in SharePoint. Doing so, however, doesn’t permanently delete the file. Instead, the file is moved to another Recycle Bin that can be accessed by the site collection administrator.
- On the top-level site, click the Site Actions menu Button image, click Site Settings and then click Modify All Site Settings.
NOTE
On a site for which the Site Actions menu is customized, point to Site Settings and then click the Settings that you want to view.
- On the Site Settings page, in the Site Collection Administration section, click Recycle Bin.
- On the Site Collection Recycle Bin page, select a View section and do one of the following.
- To view the items that the user has sent to the Recycle Bin, click End user Recycle Bin items.
- To view items that the user has deleted from the Recycle Bin and sent to the Site Collection Recycle Bin, click Deleted from end user Recycle Bin.
- Select the check box, which is next to the items that you want to restore. To select all of the items at once, select the check box next to Type.
- Click Restore selection.
- If you restore an item that was originally located in a deleted folder, the folder is recreated in its original location and then the item is restored in that folder.
