Introduction
The long wait is over -- now we can create calendar view in Modern SharePoint list. We can also define a few columns such as start date, end date and title which should be displayed in the calendar view.
In this blog we will cover the step by step process of how we can create a calendar view in Modern SharePoint list.
Step 1 - Create a SharePoint List with basic required columns
- Navigate to the Site Contents of the site collection where we would like to create the list
- Click on +New which would provide us a list of options from that click on List
- Provide the name of the List which we would like to have for this blog. We have provided the name as "Custom Modern SharePoint Calendar view"

This steps can be used with existing Modern SharePoint list as well
Step 2 - Create Columns which can be used with the Modern calendar view
- Click on + Add Column and select Date and Time as the column type
- For this blog we have used start date and end date as two Date and Time column in the list
Step 3 - Create Modern SharePoint Calendar View
- Click on the All Items present on the right corner in the list's command bar.
- Click on Create new view as displayed in the image below.
- In the Show as option select calendar and provide appropriate name to the view.
- If required then we can make the view as public view so that all the users who are accessing the list can use this view

Conclusion
We can create a custom modern SharePoint calendar view out of the box with custom columns and can even create new items by selecting +new option which gets displayed on hovering over the date. This can be very helpful when user wants to take advantage of Modern SharePoint list and display their data in a calendar view
