We are getting an issue on SharePoint on premises and SharePoint Online. The SharePoint list filter web is not working in the way we expected. It should filter as per the given value from the list.
Getting an error after the following steps for SharePoint list filtering:
- We created a tasks list (that is, we select Tasks for the list type) in Microsoft SharePoint Online or Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013.
- We created a custom list that contains values.
- We configured a lookup column in the tasks list to obtain the information from the custom list.
- We opened a page in edit mode and then added the list view Web Part for both, the tasks list and the custom list.
- We configured a connection between the two Web Parts by editing the Web Part for the tasks list. Then, click Connections, click Get Filter Values From, and then select the custom list.
- We saved our changes to the page.
But, when we click the arrow to filter the values in the custom list, the Web Part for the tasks list doesn't filter the results on the page for the values as expected. To fix this issue, we followed the below steps and it's working fine now, on SharePoint on-premises as well on SharePoint online. - Opened to the issued page, and then open the page in "Edit" mode by clicking "Edit Page" option from gear icon.
- Click the drop-down arrow in the upper-right corner of the Web Part (List Web part) for the tasks list, and then click "Edit Web Part".
- On the right side of the page, in the Web Part properties controls, click the plus sign (+) from the miscellaneous section, click to select the Server Render check box, and then click OK.
- Save the changes to the page.
- Once all done, try to filter the same. You will get the expected result; as shown below.
That's it. Thank you for reading this blog. I hope you have found it helpful.
