Internet Cookies
Internet Cookie is derived from “Magic Cookie” which is a small packet of
information. A cookie (also called an HTTP Cookie, Web Cookie or Browser Cookie)
is a small collection of information (or data) ie sent from the web server to
the user's computer and then to the user' browser which then stores it. When a
user is browsing again to same website for obtaining the same web pages,the
browser sends the cookie back to the server and server read back to this and use
it for recognizing the user.
Thus, an Internet Cookie basically is a small snippet of information sent from a
website(or server).These are extension of “Hypertext Transfer Protocol” (HTTP)
that makes possible to surfing a web pages ie. requested to server to be
delivered to your
Computer and then viewed on your browser. Cookies are normally stored as Text
Files and the path is :-
C:\Users\username\Cookies folder. We can read this by using Notepad.Cookie
doesn't carry any type of virus.
Type Of Internet Cookies
There are some type of cookies:-
Session Cookie - It is also called a transient cookie.These type of
cookies are stored inTemporary memory and being deleted from memory when the
internet explorer(IE) is closed.
Persistent Cookie - It is also called a permanent cookie or a stored
cookie.These type of cookies are permanent in nature and doesn't delete from
memory until you delete them. Except them, there are more two type of
cookies.These are First Party Cookies,Third Party Cookies and Dark Side of
Cookies.
First Party Cookies - In this type of cookie your personalization with
browser is maintained within a website.
Third Party Cookies - If any cookie is used by a website ,OTHER THAN, the
one you are currently visiting then it is referred to third party cookies.
Dark Side of Cookies - If you provide your personal information like ur
name ,address, or any other types of details, when registering on some website,
then you shouldn't be surprised when masses of ur personalised advertising
material suddenly appear in mailboxes because these details are stored on
cokkies that can be accessed by others. These are called as Tracking Cokkie.
