What's New In iOS 16

Introduction

iOS is an Operating System developed by Apple, which runs on every Apple device. After Android, iOS is the most popular Operating System for mobile. iOS uses a multitouch interface in which it operates devices with the help of simple gestures. The simple gesture means swiping out with the figure on the device screen to go to another screen and zoom out the screen with two fingers. iOS makes its device's sensors very powerful, which makes our work easy by detecting our fingers. iOS controls every hardware in Apple devices, which gives a better experience to its users.

Launching of iOS 16

iOS 16 has been introduced by Apple in WWDC 2022. At the conference, they introduced a preview of the next version of Apple iPhone's software. Now we know what new features are going to add to our iPhones. These updates will be available on iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. 

Devices that will run iOS 16

iOS 16 is compatible with all iPhones from iPhone 8 and above. That means iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 plus, and iPhone(SE 1st generation) are not on the list that will support iOS 16. iOS 15 will be the last update for these devices also iPod Touch (7th gen) will not support iOS 16 and remain with iOS 15.

Lock Screen

The lock screen is the first thing we see whenever we pick up our iPhone. The lock screen is the place where we see notifications, date and time, lock screen wallpaper, can launch the camera, and many more things. iOS 16 comes with updates on the lock screen. In iOS 16 we can personalize our lock screen just by pressing and holding the screen, then tapping customize. Here we can change the style of the screen by swiping. If we want to change anything just tap on it and change.

We can change the time and date style, just tap on it and we will see many options here we can change the style, background, color, etc. It looks very excellent here.

2. Widgets

We can add widgets to our lock screen, just press the screen and scroll down the screen and click on the plus icon. Here we can add calendars, music, temperature, etc. There is no limit to sticking with one screen, We can add more lock screens just by pressing and holding the screen. There are a lot of widgets available in iOS 16. We can design our lock screen with a personal touch.

3. Wallpaper Gallery

Here we have a wallpaper gallery, Where Apple will recommend which wallpaper will look good. We can shuffle it and can make sets of different lock screens.

4. Notifications

If we get a lot of notifications, Then they can cover up the wallpaper on the screen. In iOS 16 notifications will pop up from the bottom, Which makes the screen very attractive. We can also minimize the notifications. All activities will place at the bottom of the screen, We can expand it, Which gives the best experience. That's all for the lock screen, in iOS 16 there are a lot of updates done by Apple.

Focus Mode

In iOS 16 there is a focus mode also available. We can make different lock screens and link focus like if you are working, sleeping, personal, etc. then show different lock screens. Suppose If we are working then the lock screen will show widgets like calendar, notes, and many more things. There is Focus Filter also available in iOS 16, If we are searching with safari then we can remove tabs according to what focus we are working, personal, sleeping, and studying.

There are a lot of updates in the message. Now we can edit and also remove our messages by clicking Undo Send, This is the best update for messages because this was the most common demand from users. Here one more update is we can set unread the messages even if we read.

SharePlay in iMessage

Now SharePlay is also available in iMessage. Here we can share videos, movies anything that we want and can enjoy. This update is the best thing done with iOS 16.

Voice Dictation Feature

Dictation is also improved in iOS 16. We will have the keyboard with the voice dictation, Now we can select and edit the text with the keyboard. This will give a great experience to the users. This will also work with the messages, We can send messages with the voice.

Live texts captured from the camera

In iOS 16 there are a lot of updates available for the live text. Even this feature also will be available with the video, Let's say if you are watching a video then you can grab the text from that video. This will be a great experience for the users. We can convert currencies from dollar to rupee or in any currency captured by the camera. We also can translate from one language to another.

Cut out the subject from the background

This new feature is added in iOS 16 to extract the subject from the background. We just have to long touch on the subject and move it wherever you want to share like in messages, Image of the subject will send in white background. This is magic for the users. Here they used a machine learning model to extract the subject.
