Introduction
In Power Automate, at times we must work on strings that have integer values. We can use the Int function in power automate to convert a string value to an integer and perform related operations. An example is a small use case to increment the age of a person post-conversion of string value to an integer value.
Step 1
Login to the required Power Apps environment using URL make.powerapps.com by providing username and password and clicking on Flows on the left-hand side as shown in the below figure.
Step 2
After step 1, Click on New Flow and select instant cloud flow and provide the trigger as Manually trigger a flow and click on Create as shown in the below figure.
Step 3
After step 2, name flow as Int Function and take initialize variable and name it as the Set string value of Age with the following fields,
Name : Age
Type : String
Value : 30
as shown in the below figure.
Step 4
After step 3, take compose function and name it as Convert Age to Int Value and provide input value under expression tab,
int(value:string)
and provide value as,
int(variables('Age'))
and click on ok/update as shown in the below figure.
Step 5
After step 4, take another compose function and name it as Increment Age by 1 year and provide the input post-selection of Expression tab and provide.
Value
add(outputs('Convert_Age_to_Int_Value'),1)
And click on Ok/Update and save the flow as shown in the below figure,
Step 6
After step 5, save and run the flow and observe the result as shown in the below figure.
Note
- Make sure to save and run the flow whenever you try expressions.

Conclusion
In this way, we can use the int function so that simple calculations can be performed on the given string value.
