Microsoft has revolutionized automation with the introduction of UI Flows in Power Automate. UI Flows are designed to help you automate repetitive tasks that you handle daily, reducing the need for manual intervention and streamlining your workflows.
Use Cases for UI Flows
For instance, if you’re involved in bidding on freelancer sites and managing data in a local Excel file, UI Flows can automate the process of submitting this data to a portal like Dynamics 365 at the end of the week or day. Additionally, you can use UI Flows to send emails to a list of recipients stored in an Excel file.
One of the great things about UI Flows is that they do not require expertise in SharePoint, .NET, or any other development languages. All you need is a well-prepared algorithm, and you’re ready to start automating your tasks.
Getting Started with UI Flows
Here’s what you need to get started,
- Download Power Automate Desktop: Install the application on your machine to begin creating and managing UI Flows.
- Train Your UI Flow: Record your actions on Windows applications and web browsers to teach Power Automate how to replicate these actions when the flow is triggered.
Recording Actions
You don’t need any additional tools to record actions on Windows desktop applications. However, for recording actions in web browsers, you will need to install the Power Automate add-in. The supported browsers for recording actions are,
- Firefox
- Chrome
- Microsoft Edge
- Internet Explorer
In the upcoming blogs, I will dive deeper into this tool and explore its various features to help you make the most out of UI Flows.
