In SharePoint online page there are multiple webparts that can be used to design the SharePoint page.
In this article, I will try to cover all the features and actions done by the Quick links web part. There are different ways of using the quick links web part in a SharePoint page. We can use a quick links web part for documents, videos, pages, images, and to navigate to a particular section of the page.
Quick links web part is basically a collection of links to the frequently used application pages, which give users to complete multiple actions at a parallel time. For example, searching for the person on the page or accessing the content of the person on the webpage. Quick links web part is easy to learn and understand too.
Adding Quick Links web part to the SharePoint page
You can add quick links webpart to the SharePoint page by the following steps:
- If your page is not in edit mode, make it in edit mode from the right top of the page
- Hover your cursor above or below an existing web part
- You will be able to see a line with circled + as shown in the below screen
Either search or scroll for “quick links.” Select it once you find it.
Add your Heading for the Quick links web part.
Click “Edit web part” for more features.
Now all the different layouts will be visible which can be used in designing the SharePoint:
Compact
The compact layout is the default layout selection. It is used to show small images or icon on the left side of the quick links or without any icon or image,
Filmstrip
A filmstrip layout is like a carousel slider as you see in the image below:
Grid
In Grid layout you can add any number of items. Stock images can be used in a grid layout.
Button
A button layout has multiple options, such as,
- Descriptions
- Icons
- Icon on top
- Icon on left
- No icon
- Button style
- Outline
- Fill color (The color of the button will be according to the SharePoint Theme)
- No outline
- Alignment
Below is an example of one-line text, button appearance outline, and icon in left.
List
In List layout, you can show a description and hide the image
Tiles
In tiles layout you can decide on icon size which provides user the option of “show only icon or image.”
This article was to explain the basics of Quick links web part and how to configure it in SharePoint online pages, there are many other actions that can be done using quick links web part.
