How to Create Virtual Switch in Hyper–V Manager

Introduction

A virtual switch is a communication channel for virtual machines to communicate with other virtual switches and computer network adapters; the virtual switch is shading the physical machine network adapter with a virtual host.

Step 1. Open your Hyper-V Manager and click Virtual Switch Manager.

Step 2. Connect the virtual machine and create a virtual switch.

Now you can see three options,

  1. External - It’s for Virtual machines to Virtual machines on a single physical server connectivity, and also, while you select this opinion, it allows your Virtual machine to access the internet.
  2. Internal - It’s for Virtual machines to Virtual machines on the same physical device like your server operating system and client operating system in your same computer.
  3. Private - It’s for establishing a network of nested Virtual machines to connect.

Here I select the External method to connect the virtual machine and click Create a virtual switch.

Step 3. Give a new name for your created switch. After that, click apply and ok.
