In this article, we will see what the default settings available from Sharepoint Online Admin Center are. We will see options in modern admin center and classic admin center. In the modern experience, as of writing this article, we have very limited options, so it would make more sense to check classic admin center also.
Settings available in the modern experience are more targeted towards the creation of a site collection. So, the question might arise -- why do we need to change them? We can always take care of it while creating a site collection. This is true only when you are creating a new site collection using SharePoint Admin Console. If you are creating a site collection from PowerShell, you/we might not add optional parameters to the command. In such cases, the default settings would be applied. Hence it is necessary to have these settings in place for governance purposes and the common default setting for each site collection.
We can follow the below steps to change default settings of site creation options available in the modern experience.
Step 1
Go to the SharePoint Admin console.
Step 2
Open Site Creation default settings.
Step 3
Once you click on it, a sidebar window will open.
Step 4
Change this setting and click "Save".
Now, let us see how to change other settings available in the Classic Admin experience.
Step 1
On the left pane, click on Classic SharePoint Admin Center.

You can see there are lots of options available in the classic experience. We won't go into details of each setting available. Most of them are self-explanatory. The description under each setting is sufficient enough to understand what this option is meant for.
