Nintex forms are very powerful for Office 365 SharePoint online sites. We can design very rich enhanced forms in the browser itself and it provides drag-and-drop functionality for a SharePoint list or document library. Without any additional software, by using Nintex forms we can design rich and powerful forms in the browser itself in SharePoint Online.
Go to site setting -> site contents of SharePoint Online site and click on New button as shown below,
Select App from the options as shown below and then App window will be shown. Search for “nintex” in Apps and select “Nintex Forms for Office 365” as shown in the below highlighted image.
After that the below trust dialog will be opened as shown below. Click on “Trust it” button.
It will redirect you to Site Contents and you will see “Nintex Forms for Office 365” of type App in greyed out color as shown below. It takes some time to get added on the site, so please wait for a few minutes and check again.
The App is in gray as shown below (App adding is in progress). Please wait for some time and check again if the gray color is gone.
To verify whether Nintex App is added or not, you can redirect to any list and you will see “Nintex forms” option above list title bar. If it is not visible, please wait for some time and check again.
Create a custom list based on your requirements and add columns to it as shown below. I have created a list “NintexFormDemo” with columns shown below.
Click on “Nintex Forms” button located on navigation bar above list title as shown below.
Select Classic Designer as shown below.
The Nintex forms Classic Designer tool will be opened as shown below with list columns and two buttons (Save and Cancel) on it. You can see form control bar on the left side and control properties bar on right side of the tool.
Below will be the default design layout with all list columns which can be customized as per your requirements. You can select all and click on delete button to customize the form.
Select panel from left control bar and drag drop on the form as shown below.
Select pane and right click to open its properties. Clicking on settings option will open a settings window.
Below shown is the Control setting dialog in which you can...
- Change the name
- Apply styles
- Change Appearance settings and many more.
Expand the panel and select Label and drag-drop on panel as shown below. You can double click on label to edit its properties.
Insert text for your label as shown below and you can also apply styling for the label.
To change styling of the label, select label and click on control in top ribbon. You can format label styling as shown below.
You can search for controls in the left side and drag-drop control on panel. Also, you can search for list column names in left side controls bar. Design your form as per your requirements. Select people picker control for Employee Name label and drag-drop in front of label. Double click on People picker control.
Select “Current User (Display Name)” from reference tab under Common as shown below. It will by default populate current logged-in user in people picker field.
Select below properties from control setting for your fields,
- Connect your control to list field
- Apply styling for control
- Change validation setting and many more as shown below.
Select choice field and drag-drop on panel as shown below.

Select multi line text box and drag-drop on panel.

Double click on Save button to customize it. As shown below, you can call client click function and change redirect url for the button control.
Now Save the form and click on Publish in Top ribbon. Select production and Publish it.
Now your Nintex form design is ready.
Now go to list and click on Add New item as shown below to see your Nintex form.
Below shown will be your Nintex form design. You can fill information and Save the form; data will be saved to list.
