Microsoft Flow is a cloud-based software that allows you to create the flows to automate your day to activities and business activities. You can enter into the Microsoft Flow page by clicking
here. There is also a mobile version of flow available, you can install it from your app store. It helps you to create the flows based on your requirements. For using Microsoft flow, you must have a Microsoft account for signing up. The automation of the process can be easily done with the Microsoft Flow. We can easily automate our day to day process using the Microsoft flow. The Microsoft flow does not need to make any coding for automating the process. It is one of the advantages for Microsoft Flow. In this article, we will discuss creating a workflow for automatically syncing a newly uploaded file of OneDrive to Google drive files.
AUTOMATED FLOW
This flow is an automated flow which can execute automatically when some action gets triggered. The automated process will automatically execute at any time the trigger process acts. The automation takes place at every aspect according to the trigger. After choosing the trigger you need to select the action based on your requirement and process. There will be a lot of triggers and related actions are available in Microsoft flow. The automated flow gets executed, even without your knowledge, for ensuring that we may add a notification action to the flow. There will be two notification options available, such as mobile notification and email notification. For getting mobile notification, you need to install the flow application on your mobile which is available in Appstore. You can get the email notification to the mail account which you used to sign-in to the Microsoft Flow.
STEPS FOR CREATING THE FLOW
You can create a flow by clicking the create option in the browser.
After clicking that you can then choose the automated flow for creating an automated flow. You can choose from the templates which are already available.
After clicking automated flow, a dialog box opens. In that you should enter the flow name and you should choose the primary trigger for the automation process.
For making the automation in OneDrive you can select the "when a new file is created trigger" from the OneDrive as a primary trigger.
After choosing that you can click the create button to create the flow.
In the flow after getting connected with the one drive you need to root the folder in the files which you are going to upload.
Then to add some new action to the flow, you need to click the new step button in the bottom.
Now you are going to create an action for that trigger, here we are choosing the create file action from the drive actions, to create a new file to the Google drive.
In that you need to enter the root folder for the creation of the new file in the Google drive. You are also having the option of adding some dynamic contents such as the file name, file type etc…
We are going to add a notification action by clicking the new step option and adding the mobile notification at last, which helps you to know about the file copying done between OneDrive and Google Drive.
Save the flow by clicking save button
TESTING THE FLOW
After saving the flow we are going to test it by clicking the test button available there.
After clicking that, you need to select the "I’ll perform the trigger action" radio button then click save and test button. By choosing that radio button you need to perform the trigger action (adding a file to the OneDrive manually).
After execution, the trigger and actions are marked with a green mark, which indicates the execution of flow without error.
As per our action the file got copied to Google Drive and we will receive a notification to our mobile phone, from the flow application.
CONCLUSION
This option helps you to sync the files in OneDrive to Google Drive automatically without any manual work. That helps you to maintain the files between the two online file storage systems and helps you to retrieve the files from anywhere you need it.
