The Azure Data Box is a family of products that make it easy to move large amounts of data to and from Azure. Data Box devices are physical appliances that you can use to move data offline, while Data Box Gateway is a virtual appliance that you can use to move data online.

Now, The Data Box comes in three sizes, they are :

  1. Data Box 80TB
  2. Data Box 400TB
  3. Data Box Heavy 1PB

For the above Sizes, I'll post the picture below in creating the Azure Data Box. 

Usually, To use Data Box, you usually order the device from the Azure portal and have it shipped to your location. Once the device arrives, you connect it to your network and use the included software to copy your data to the device. When the copy is complete, you ship the device back to Microsoft, and your data will be automatically uploaded to Azure.

Why do we need Data Box Gateway?

So, The Data Box Gateway is a virtual appliance that you can use to move data to Azure online. Data Box Gateway is a fully managed service you can deploy in your on-premises environment. Once Data Box Gateway is deployed, you can copy data to Azure using standard network protocols, such as SMB and NFS.

That's why we have to use this data box gateway in the Azure data box. Also, a data box gateway is a good option for organizations that need to move data to Azure quickly and easily. Data Box Gateway is also a good option for organizations that have limited network bandwidth.

Create Azure Data Box in Azure Portal

Creating an Azure data box has several steps, as follows,

Step 1. The first step in any azure service creation is we need login to the Azure portal [ www.portal.azure.com].

Step 2. After logging in to the Azure portal. We need to redirect and click on " Create a resource " . And then, search for Azure Data Box in the search bar. I already visit this service it will appear in the recent.

Step 3. After that, Please click on " Create " once it previews.

Step 4. Once we click on " Create ", it will redirect to the select Azure data box preview: Select the basic requirements like, import type, resource group, subscription, and region, and click on the APPLY.

Step 5. One tap on the Apply button, it will redirect to another preview. As we have already discussed, the THREE SIZES will appear here. And now, we can select 1TB.

Step 6. Once we select it, it will move to another phase, Create A Job. We have to provide name, subscription, and region details again. 

Step 7. After the basic details, select some more details in the job details.

Step 8. Provide Security details.

Step 9. Select some more details in return shipping.

Step 10. After tags, select the Review + Create tab. After that, use this Azure data Box once its is deployment successfully completed.
