Introduction
In this article you will learn how to set Computer-Wide Access Permissions using Component Services.
Component-Wide Access Permission is used to specify users assigned or denied access to COM Applications.
Step 1
First of all open the Administrative Tools from the Start Menu.
In the Administrative Tools an option will be available named "Component Services", double-click on this option to open it.
Step 2
Now the Component Services Wizard will be opened. Here in the Console Tree, open the Component Services. In the Component Services a folder will be available named "Computers". Again open this option.
In the Computers folder, "My Computer" will be available. Right-click on this My Computer and open its Properties.
Step 3
Now the Property Wizard for My Computer will be opened, by default the General Tab will be opened.
In the Property Wizard you will see an option named "COM Security", click on this tab since you need to work on this tab.
On this tab you will see two panes available, one is named "Access Permission" and the other is named "Launch and Activate Permission".
In the first pane two buttons are available, one for the Edit Limits and the other for the Edit Defaults, you can click any of them depending on whether you want to modify the Computer-Wide Restriction Policy or the Computer-Wide Default Settings.
Step 4
Now the Access Permission Wizard will be opened, here if you want to Add any Group or User Names then simply click on the "Add" tab and then follow the process.
Or if you want to delete any user or group then first select that user and then click on the "Remove" button.
After adding or deleting the users you can provide the Permission level for Local Access and the Remote Access to all of the users.
Use the same procedure for the Launch and Activation Permissions. After doing all the changes click on the "Apply" button and then on the "Ok" button.
