Download Up to 10 Files at a Time Using Internet Explorer in Windows 8

Introduction

In this article, we are going to explain how to download more than 10 files at a time in Windows 8. By default Internet Explorer 10, IE9, and IE8 download only 6 files at a time. In fact Internet Explorer 7 and earlier versions of Internet Explorer downloaded only 2 files at a time. If we want to download more then 6 files then you have to wait for downloading to complete. To download more than 10 files at a time you have to change the configuration of Internet Explorer. By changing the configuration of IE you can set the specific number of files that can be downloaded simultaneously as needed.

How to change the configuration of Internet Explorer?

Step 1. Go into the search box and type "GPEDIT.MSC".

Step 2. Click on Application that appears. The Local Group Policy Editor window will be open.

Step 3. In Local Group Policy Windows go on "Computer Configuration > Administrative Template > Windows component > Internet Explorer > Security Feature > Ajax".

Step 4. In this step click on "Maximum number of connection per server (HTTP1.0)".

This connection setting allows you to change the default connection limit for HTTP 1.0 from 6 connections per host to a limit of your choice.

Step 5. In the window that is open click on "Enable" and change the value as needed. Click on "Apply".

Step 6. Now go on User Local Group Policy Editor and click on "Maximum number of connection per server (HTTP 1.1)".

This connection setting allows you to change the default connection limit for HTTP 1.1 from 6 connections per host to a limit of your choice.
