The world is growing, people are finding their food in the internet, WiFi is the life and we are living in the age of "Roti, Kapda and Wi-Fi". Everything is now optional but technology is compulsory.
And in this era of technology "Cloud Computing" is a Game Changing technology.
The first time in The Science Conference, Patna on 25th December 2010, when I submitted a paper on "Cloud Computing", I was not much aware of this but now everything is in clouds, so it is compulsory to have an understanding of clouds, cloud computing, Amazon, Windows Azure and so on.
I Write (a few lines) : "Cloud Computing", as the words say, are the collection of small packets of information and computing is simple computing!. It is the most powerful technology for the information world with its huge concept. Technically it works with the following three layers:
- Application.
- Platform.
- Interface.
The Application layer is used for accessing the information or data, the platform means a place where it can run and the third layer (Interface) works for size and power. This is the internal status of cloud computing.
Now let us talk about the external view of clouds and cloud computing. It is a hosting in which we save our data in cloud packets in the environment using cloud hosting. Cloud hosting has an important application for accessing the data. The benefit with an example: Let us use the example of a website, if this website is accessed through general hosting then there will be a slow speed after a fixed distance but in cloud hosting there will be no problem in assessment with distance or time because there may be many clouds with the same data. By using nearest cloud it can access, so cloud computing is fast and scatible.
We know cloud computing is a "Location independent technology", everything is in clouds... :)
Cloud computing is consumption of computing resources without worrying about specifics. As well as ability to add or remove resources depending on the demand. Similar to the power grid and telephone network. Using cloud computing services we can share resources, software and data.
How Cloud Computing works
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): Basic compute and storage resources:
- On-demand servers…
- Amazon EC2, VMWare vCloud
Platform as a Service (PaaS): Cloud application infrastructure:
- On-demand application-hosting environment
- For example Google AppEngine, Salesforce.com, Windows Azure, Amazon
Software as a Service (SaaS): Cloud application.
- On-demand applications
- GMail, Microsoft Office Web Companions
In the above lines we have a different service provider for each cloud service. Windows Azure is one of them.
Microsoft Windows Azure
The Wikipedia Says: “Windows Azure is a cloud computing platform and infrastructure, created by Microsoft, for building, deploying and managing applications and services through a global network of Microsoft-managed datacenters. It provides both PaaS and IaaS services and supports many different programming languages, tools and frameworks, including both Microsoft-specific and third-party software and systems. Windows Azure was released on February 1, 2010.”
This is the most useful tool or OS as Platform as a service (PaaS).
Three main functions:
- Compute: Web, Worker and VM Role
- Storage: Blob, Table, Queue and Azure SQL Server
- Application Fabric: Service Bus, Access Control, (Future: Cache, Integration and Composite)
So this was a little bit about Cloud Computing and Windows Azure. Stay tuned for the next blog, I will share my learning about “Windows Azure”. Meanwhile do some more exercises from Google and Books.
