Automatic Maintenance in Windows 8

Introduction

 
In this article, we are explaining how to set up Automatic Maintenance in Windows 8. The purpose of Automatic Maintenance is to combine all background maintenance activity in Windows 8. Automatic Maintenance is a new feature of Windows 8. Automatic Maintenance will perform many tasks such as Security Scans, Software updates, System Diagnostics, etc. It is provided in the Action Center.
 
Windows Maintenance activity is structured to run in the background with limited user interaction. By default, Microsoft has it set to run at 3 AM. If you are not using your system at the time you set but Maintenance will run daily. If you are set the scheduled time and it is used at the scheduled time then Automatic Maintenance will run next time when the System is not being used within a week.
 

Steps How to Use Automatic Maintenance in Windows 8

 
Step 1
 
You move your mouse to the bottom-right and click on the search as shown below.

Step 2
 
In the search box, you can type the name "Control Panel" and click on the Control Panel as shown below.

In the Control Panel, you click the drop-down menu arrow in the category tab and select the "Large Icons".

In this step, you click on "Action Center".

In this step, you click on the pop up control for the extra field under maintenance. After clicking on this control, a few extra fields will be visible to you.

In this step, you click on Start Maintenance and if you want to change its settings then click on the Change Maintenance Settings link as shown below.

Step 7
 
After clicking on Change Maintenance Settings, you can set the run maintenance tasks. Click on the drop-down menu to change the tasks to run. If you want your system to automatically start a process then enter the runtime of the maintenance and click the OK button.

If you want to Stop Maintenance then you click on the Stop Maintenance link as shown below.
