Postman’s Growth and Valuation
Since its founding in 2014, Postman has become one of the most popular platforms for building and managing APIs, used by over 500,000 organizations. However, its valuation has dropped from a $5.6 billion peak in 2021.
AI Agent Builder Launch
Postman is entering the AI space with an AI Agent Builder, combining APIs and large language models (LLMs) like OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude. The tool features a visual editor, enabling even non-developers to build and test AI agents.
Why Do APIs and AI Work Together?
CEO Abhinav Asthana explained that APIs are essential for AI agents to interact with services, whether it’s through LLM APIs or other tools. Postman’s extensive API network, featuring contributions from over 18,000 companies, helps users easily connect their AI agents to various systems.
Focus on Simplicity and Testing
The tool provides no-code features through Postman Flows, making it easy for non-technical users to build API-driven agents. It also includes testing and evaluation tools to ensure agents perform as expected.
Future Plans and Pricing
Currently focused on back-end tasks, Postman plans to expand agent interaction capabilities in the future. Pricing for the AI Agent Builder is still being developed and will be adjusted based on the value it provides.
