The new “Ask AI” feature is now available in the “FREE TOOLS” section on the home page, making it easier for users to access AI-driven search capabilities directly within the Paytm app. With this feature, users can ask questions, and the tool will provide detailed responses along with citations from Perplexity’s AI interface.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma, the CEO of Paytm, has long been a supporter of Perplexity AI, frequently praising it as his go-to search engine and referring to it as "perpetually intelligent." His endorsement highlights the growing recognition of Perplexity as a valuable tool in the search engine space.

In addition to integrating into Paytm, Perplexity AI is focusing on expanding its presence in India, where the company sees a huge potential market. India is home to the second-largest number of AI users globally, and CEO Aravind Srinivas has expressed a strong commitment to the region. He recently announced plans to recruit talent in India to help drive the company’s growth. Srinivas also highlighted his dedication to advancing AI development in India by offering personal investments and even proposed an additional $10 million in funding if a team could outperform the DeepSeek-R1 AI model.

Perplexity AI has also launched a feature called “Deep Research,” which is designed to help users perform expert-level tasks in fields like finance, marketing, and product research. The feature allows users to conduct multiple searches, review numerous sources, and compile findings into detailed reports. It’s available for free, though users have daily query limits, while Pro users enjoy up to 500 queries per day.
