Google Adds Free AI Tools to Workspace with Price Increase

Google announced that all AI features in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Meet are now available to Workspace customers without any extra charge. However, there will be a small price increase of $2 per month per user. This change makes it easier for users to access AI tools like email summaries, automated note-taking, and chatting with the Gemini bot.

Before this update, customers had to pay an additional $20 per user per month for the Gemini for Workspace plan on top of the regular $12 for the Workspace Business Standard plan. Now, the cost for the Business Standard plan will be $14 per user per month.

This new pricing will apply immediately to new customers, and existing customers will see the changes starting March 17, 2025. Small business customers will not be affected by these price changes for now.

Customers who had already paid for the Gemini for Workspace add-on will still have access to the AI features, but they will no longer be charged for the subscription after January 31.

This move is part of Google's effort to stay competitive with Microsoft, which bundled its AI features, called Copilot Pro, into the standard Microsoft 365 subscription in November.
