Anthropic Launches Claude 3.5 Haiku Model

Anthropic has launched its new AI model, Claude 3.5 Haiku, for users of the Claude chatbot platform. News of its release spread quickly on social media, and TechCrunch confirmed it's available on both the web and mobile versions of Claude.

The 3.5 Haiku model, which was introduced in November, performs as well or better than Anthropic's older top model, 3 Opus, in some areas. It’s especially good at tasks like suggesting code, extracting and labeling data, and moderating content.

This model can also produce longer responses than the previous version, 3 Haiku, and has updated knowledge, so it can refer to more recent events. However, it can't analyze images, making it less capable than other models like 3 Haiku and 3.5 Sonnet in that area.

There was some controversy when 3.5 Haiku was first available through Anthropic's API last month. The company initially said the price would be the same as 3 Haiku, but later changed the price, saying the model’s improved abilities justified the higher cost.
