Job Description

We are seeking a talented Technical Writer to join our team at Siemens. In this role, you will be responsible for developing high-quality documentation for our enterprise grid application platform and analytics applications. Your work will empower our customers and partners to successfully implement, extend, and utilize Siemens' enterprise business applications.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Documentation Development. Define, write, maintain, and deliver clear, accurate, and comprehensive documentation tailored to the needs of various audiences, including developers, administrators, system integrators, and data analysts.
  2. Collaboration. Work closely with developers, product managers, solution consultants, and other writers to gather information and ensure that technical and functional details are accurately captured and conveyed.
  3. Strategy Contribution. Play an active role in shaping the documentation strategy for our evolving product landscape, ensuring that it meets the needs of our diverse user base.
  4. Editing and Proofreading. Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by others to ensure consistency, accuracy, and readability.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  1. Technical Proficiency. Strong ability to quickly grasp and write about complex technical material, including current technologies such as Linux, XML, databases, Java, Kafka, AWS, and Web Services.
  2. Communication Skills. Superior written and verbal communication skills in English, with a focus on clarity and precision.
  3. Experience
    1. 3+ years of professional technical writing experience.
    2. 2+ years of experience documenting complex enterprise software products for a technical or developer audience.
    3. Previous experience in roles such as system administrator, support engineer, systems integrator, or developer.
    4. Any prior experience in the Smart Grid, MDM (Meter Data Management), or energy domain.
    5. Familiarity with Atlassian Confluence is a plus.
  4. Education. BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Technical Communication, English, or a related field.
  5. Work Environment. Comfortable working independently or as part of a team, whether face-to-face or remotely, in a fast-paced development culture.
  6. Motivation. Highly motivated and able to take ownership of projects with minimal direction.
