Tech Mahindra is seeking an experienced Tech Lead to join our team in Pune. In this role, you will be pivotal in designing, modifying, and managing complex sheet metal and automotive body components. Your expertise in project deliverables, innovative design, and problem-solving will drive the success of our projects, ensuring high-quality results and efficient processes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design and Modeling. Lead the design and modification of A surface, concept generation, and 3D parametric modeling for CIW/BUS body parts, including front end parts, underbody parts, body side parts, closures, and roof systems.
2. Project Management. Oversee complete project deliverables, ensuring all phases of the design and development process meet established goals and deadlines.
3. Multitasking and Innovation. Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while innovating in concept design work. Apply creative solutions to complex problems.
4. Material and Process Expertise. Apply knowledge of sheet metal parts, injection-molded, blow-molded plastic parts, composites, and RIM (Reaction Injection Molding) materials and processes. Utilize sheet metal tooling knowledge for CIW projects.
5. Method Planning. Generate method plans, detailing press tool dies for blanking, piercing, drawing, trimming, flanging, and restrike processes.
6. Feasibility and Simulation. Conduct simulations, part feasibility studies, and welding assembly analyses to ensure optimal design and functionality.
7. Manufacturing Exposure. Leverage experience in manufacturing to enhance design processes and integration.
8. Quality and Compliance. Ensure adherence to gap and flushness requirements, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), DRD (Design Requirements Document), and relevant regulations.
9. VA/VE and Cost Reduction. Innovate and implement Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) and cost reduction ideas to optimize project outcomes.
10. Mentoring and Team Management. Guide and mentor team members, providing support and leadership to ensure high performance and effective collaboration.
11. Integration and Packaging. Manage the packaging and integration of body parts with surrounding components, ensuring seamless assembly and functionality.
12. GD&T Knowledge. Apply knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in design and analysis.
13. Communication Skills. Exhibit strong communication skills (both oral and written), and demonstrate effective interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
14. Flexibility. Be prepared to work at client sites and adapt to various shifts, including US shifts as required.

Qualifications

1. Experience. 6 to 16 years of experience in designing and managing large assemblies, with a focus on automotive body parts and sheet metal.
2. Technical Skills. Expertise in sheet metal design, tool generation, material processes, and GD&T. Proficiency in simulation and feasibility studies.
3. Leadership. Proven experience in leading teams, mentoring members, and managing complex projects.
4. Education. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

2. Industry Knowledge. Awareness of current trends and technologies in automotive parts and design.
3. Manufacturing Experience. Previous exposure to manufacturing processes and environments is advantageous.
