Job Description

As a SQL Database Administrator at Infosys, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our SQL Server environments. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of databases, while also guiding teams through various phases of the consulting lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Database Management. Oversee RDBMS software installation, database server builds, and configuration of SQL Server (2008R2/2012/2014/2016). Ensure proper patching and upgrading.
  2. Disaster Recovery. Implement disaster recovery strategies, including Always On, clustering, log shipping, mirroring, and replication (both snapshot and transactional).
  3. High Availability. Configure and maintain Always On Availability Groups for SQL Server to ensure high availability and resilience.
  4. Database Maintenance. Manage backup, restore, and recovery processes, along with updating statistics, rebuilding indexes, and optimizing database performance.
  5. Performance Tuning. Utilize tools like SQL Profiler, Execution Plans, and Performance Monitor to identify and resolve performance issues.
  6. Automation. Use PowerShell or SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to automate routine tasks and enhance existing scripts.
  7. Monitoring & Alerts. Configure monitoring tools and enable alerts for proactive database management.
  8. Knowledge Sharing. Prepare knowledge articles and conduct training sessions to share insights and best practices with the team.

Required Qualifications

  1. Experience. Proven expertise in SQL Server management, with hands-on experience in installations, configurations, and troubleshooting.
  2. Disaster Recovery Expertise. Strong background in disaster recovery plans and high availability configurations.
  3. Performance Optimization. Experience in query optimization and performance tuning methodologies.
  4. Technical Skills. Proficiency in using monitoring tools such as Quest Foglight or AppDynamics.
  5. Scripting Skills. Familiarity with PowerShell or SSIS for task automation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 24x7 Support. Experience providing support and maintenance for OLTP/OLAP database instances.
