As a Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of engineers, overseeing their performance and career development. You will play a critical role in designing and architecting LinkedIn products while fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Management. Oversee the performance and career development of engineers, promoting a culture of craftsmanship and accountability.
- Technical Leadership. Participate in developing a long-term technology roadmap with senior management, guiding your team through technical discussions and decisions.
- Project Execution. Collaborate with engineering, product managers, designers, and business partners to drive the execution of product and technical workstreams.
- Environment Creation. Foster a collaborative workplace that encourages autonomy, transparency, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Architectural Oversight. Manage the design and scaling of distributed applications, making architectural trade-offs and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Quality Assurance. Ensure the production of high-quality software that is regularly tested, reviewed, and integrated.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 10+ years of relevant engineering experience and 2+ years in people management.
- 8+ years of experience in software design and coding, proficient in Java, Python, or C/C++.
- Deep understanding of APIs and their role in enhancing developer experience and partner ecosystems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of management experience building and leading small to medium-sized teams.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale projects across multiple teams and skill sets.
- Knowledge of performance patterns and anti-patterns in distributed systems.
- Active involvement in developing technical strategies and roadmaps, and in hiring and retaining top engineering talent.
