As a Software Engineering Leader (SDE III) in Amazon’s FinTech Payments team, you will be responsible for building high-performance, globally scalable financial systems. You will work on innovative technologies that drive Amazon’s financial transactions, including supplier payments and vendor payments worldwide. You will lead the design and development of software systems and applications that handle billions of dollars in payments every month, utilizing AWS and machine learning models to optimize the process.

In this leadership role, you’ll mentor engineers, review code, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams. You will help create a seamless payment experience for Amazon’s global vendors, improve operational efficiencies, and contribute to cutting-edge payment technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and enhance software that enables Global/Worldwide Vendor Payments, including real-time payments and other advanced payment services. You will ensure the platform is scalable, reliable, and continuously improving.
• Lead the architecture and design of new and existing financial systems. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that systems scale efficiently, maintain high reliability, and meet business needs. Your design expertise will help Amazon develop payment solutions that are cutting-edge in both reliability and performance.
• Mentor mid-level and junior software engineers to help them grow their technical and professional skills. Conduct code reviews, share your knowledge, and improve engineering practices across the team.
• Partner closely with other Software Development Engineers (SDEs), Technical Program Managers, Functional Analysts, and customers to identify software solutions that meet business goals and optimize customer experience.
• Work on integrating financial applications, reduce operational costs, and improve the customer experience. You will help leverage Amazon’s internal tools and technologies to achieve these goals.
• Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, including machine learning, cloud computing, and distributed systems, and explore how they can be integrated into the payment systems. Bring your innovative ideas to build smarter, more efficient financial systems that can scale with Amazon’s growth.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship)
• 5+ years of experience in programming with at least one software programming language (e.g., Java, C++, Python, etc.)
• 5+ years of experience leading system design or architecture (including design patterns, reliability, and scaling of new and existing systems)
• Proven experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
