As a DataStage Developer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and maintenance of DataStage ETL jobs. You will ensure the seamless integration of data into our data warehouse and optimize existing systems for peak performance. Your contributions will help streamline data flows, enabling real-time insights and supporting business-critical processes.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development
- Develop, modify, and maintain ETL jobs in IBM DataStage according to technical specifications.
- Build new ETL pipelines to facilitate data loading into the data warehouse.
- Create efficient and high-performance DataStage jobs by optimizing existing workflows.
Code Review & Troubleshooting
- Review the design and code of DataStage jobs developed by team members.
- Troubleshoot job failures, perform root cause analysis, and provide timely resolutions.
- Support production jobs and resolve issues with minimal downtime.
Testing & Deployment
- Test DataStage jobs to ensure accuracy and performance across various environments.
- Deploy DataStage jobs into test and production environments and monitor their execution.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with project leaders to meet timeframes and objectives.
- Provide ongoing support for data loads, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
- Offer on-call support for critical production systems when necessary.
Documentation & Monitoring
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all developed jobs.
- Continuously monitor DataStage job execution and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in DataStage development and administration.
- Proven experience with IBM InfoSphere DataStage and related suite (QualityStage, Information Analyzer, Metadata Workbench).
- Expertise in PL/SQL and other coding languages relevant to ETL processes.
- In-depth knowledge of DataStage job design, optimization, and performance tuning.
- Experience integrating DataStage with SOAP/XML, XSLT, XSD, REST.
- Strong proficiency in UNIX scripting and database technologies (Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB, MSSQL).
- Advanced SQL skills across multiple platforms (PL/SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Experience transforming business requirements into scalable SOA services.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, database design, and the broader data warehousing ecosystem.
- Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
